A thought...

Someone posted this poem on my Facebook in response to my statement that I should stop being lazy and clean the house...and I really like it, and think it puts things in perspective.

"Cleaning and dusting can wait till tomorrow
For babies grow up as we've learned to our sorrow
So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep
I'm rocking by baby, cuz babies don't keep"

I'm not going to lie, tears filled my eyes when I read this, and realized just how fast Alexys has grown already. She's beautiful.

Kortney, I stitched that same poem when I was pregnant with David and it hung in his room for years. It truly got me by in the trying times when I felt I wasn't doing enough. Holding him, rocking him, and being there for him was really I all needed to do and that poem helped me keep that in perspective.

I just watched the little video clip of Alexys and may I say she is one beautiful little girl. Don't take your eyes off of her, they grow up when you're not looking. Give her a little hug from her U.S. Grandma, ok? :)

I love that poem too, and it's true. Children are cuddly little babies for such a short time. I used to say that poem to myself a lot when Kaleb was an infant. Nowadays I like the expression:

"Cleaning the house while children are growing, is like shoveling snow while it's still snowing."
